Prominent Dota 2 streamer Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski recently offered his detailed insights and analysis about the top carry heroes currently dominating the meta in Dota 2 esports ahead of The International 2023 (TI12).
In a recent live stream, Gorgc systematically reviewed and ranked the key carry heroes in Dota 2 currently. The streamer made a tier list on stream and explained his thought process behind placing each hero under a certain tier. Gorgc also delved deep into the strengths and weaknesses of each hero on the list, providing a comprehensive understanding of their roles in competitive matches.
Gorgc’s Favored Heroes for TI12 Include Luna and Muerta
Gorgc placed Spectre, Muerta, Faceless Void, and Luna in the S-tier, recognizing their dynamic versatility and ability to impact matches in the current meta. His endorsement of these heroes is likely to resonate with many players at TI12. Gorgc also offered in-depth commentary on the potential for a Spectre resurgence in the current meta.
Muerta, who also found a place in the S-tier of Gorgc’s list, will be a “flex hero.” The streamer highlighted her versatility in different roles and how she can be a really good carry and a really good soft support in the current patch. Interestingly, Gorgc named Luna his favorite carry of the patch.
Mirroring the same sentiment about Muerta, Manuel ”Grubby” Schenkhuizen endorsed Gorgc’s choice of placing her in the S-tier list due to her versatility in roles.
A-Tier Heroes on Gorgc’s TI12 Tier List
Gorgc’s ‘A-tier’ heroes for TI12 are Chaos Knight, Slark, Bristleback, Gyrocopter, Razor, Troll Warlord, Lone Druid and Phantom Assassin.
While the addition of Chaos Knight to this tier was not surprising given that he is a carry known for his late-game potential, the inclusion of Slark and Anti-Mage opened up discussions.
Gorgc believed that Slark was a solid A-tier hero due to how “broken” his skills were and he also ranked Bristleback in the A-tier despite being skeptical of teams drafting him for the carry role. He went on to emphasize his belief in Bristleback’s underutilized potential in the current meta.
Old Gyrocopter found himself atop the A-tier as Gorgc believed that this hero will possibly be a strong pick for major teams due to his ability to counter illusion-based heroes. Gorgc said, “I think it’s really good. This [Gyrocopter] hero is kind of like whatever right now, but its not weak.“
While Sven, Phantom Lancer, Templar Assassin, Bloodseeker, Juggernaut, Lifestealer, Naga Siren and Anti-Mage found themselves in Gorgc’s B-tier, his C-tier comprised of Ursa, Wraith King, Terrorblade, Alchemist, Monkey King and Morphling.
Gorgc acknowledged the diversity in strategies and the potential for unique plays with heroes like Terrorblade and Monkey King. He also pondered about Anti-Mage’s potential resurgence as an agility carry hero, often overlooked in recent metas.
However, with newfound relevance as a counter to the Spectre and Muerta in the game. Gorgc remarked, “Anti-Mage gets bumped up to B because he’s actually good against both of these.”
Gorgc Places Three Carries at the Bottom of His TI12 Tier List
The heroes less favored in this meta — Medusa, Weaver, and Drow Ranger — found themselves down in the D-tier of Gorgc’s list. Talking about Drow Ranger, Gorgc called it a “trash hero” and a “bottom of the barrel carry.” He added, “In my opinion, this is C or D. Like, I don’t know what I’m putting in D, but I guess she’s going there because she’s just trash.”
It will be interesting to see how good Gorgc’s tier list about carry heroes for TI12 holds up given that this marquee tournament kicks off on 12th October starting with the Group Stage.
