New Zealand Women secured a massive 100-run win against Bangladesh Women in Match 11 of the Women’s World Cup 2025 at the ACA Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Friday, October 10. This victory meant the White Ferns have remained undefeated in eight matches against Bangladesh across all formats, but more importantly, bagged their maiden win in the ongoing global competition.
Opting to bat first, New Zealand went from 35/0 in 8.1 overs to 38/3 in 11 overs. Skipper Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday steadied the ship from that point onwards. Their strike rotation was quite efficient, and the two even found the boundary ropes from time to time during when a bad ball presented itself. Halliday was dismissed for 69 off 104 with the team score at 150.
Nishita Akter Nishi secured her first wicket of the day by cleaning up Devine for an 85-ball 63-run knock. Handy contributions from Maddy Green (25 off 28), Isabella Gaze (12 off 13) and Lea Tahuhu (12* off 4) brought some sort of respectability to the total at the end. Rabeya Khan (3/30 in 10 overs) was the standout bowler from the Bangladeshi side.
The Bangla Tigresses were already on the back foot when they lost three wickets by the end of their powerplay. Shorna Akter was the sixth player to return to the hut and also the fifth to have done so while securing a double-digit score. Nahida Akter (17 off 32) tried building a partnership with Fahima Khatun. However, she too perished with Bangladesh at 66/7 in the 23rd over, as the target looked a dream to be achieved.
Coming in at No. 9, Rabeya Khan’s 25 off 39 was the second-highest score by a Bangladesh player on the day. Khatun (34 off 80) was the last wicket to fall. Jess Kerr and Tahuhu picked up respective three-wicket hauls. Amelia Kerr, who had earlier in the match scored only 1 off 10, turned out to be the most economical across both teams.
