Dhoni last featured in IPL 2025 for CSK. He took over the baton of captaincy upon himself after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined from the tournament around the halfway mark of the tournament. CSK had a forgettable season considering all departments. They ended up finishing last on the points table for the first time in their 16-season history.
When asked about his cricketing future post the completion of CSK’s final group-stage game, he was quite vague with his response. The 43-year-old had stated that he would take a few months to assess his physical condition and only then would be take a final call on his future in the IPL. Dhoni has only been playing the IPL ever since retiring from international cricket in 2020.

As mentioned above, Dhoni had already hung up his boots on August 15, 2020. His last gig with the Indian team was in the capacity of mentor during the T20 World Cup in 2021. He has not really shown any inclination towards the coaching side of things as of now.
