Shreyas Iyer clobbered a massive maximum off Glenn Phillips’ bowling, which travelled all of 109 meters during the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
At the end of 36 overs, India required 86 runs off 84 deliveries. The previous boundary had been scored on the fifth ball of the 33rd. However, the third delivery of Iyer was pummeled with effortless grace by a belligerent Iyer. Floated slightly outside off stump, Iyer got down on one knee to smoke the ball over the deep midwicket fence for a massive six.

Kyle Jamieson dropped a straightforward opportunity coming his way at long-on on the very next ball. However, Iyer fell just short of his half-century yet again. He got dismissed on 48, with Rachin Ravindra snagging a top catch at backward square leg.
Axar’s exit leaves game finely poised
Axar Patel was the batter at the other end during the fourth-wicket stand with Iyer. However, a mis-hit to long-off brought about the dismissal of the all-rounder. Axar was back in the hut after a 40-ball 29-run knock. Hardik Pandya joined KL Rahul in the middle as the game entered its business end, with it being anyone’s game to win from this point.

Earlier in the day, India restricted New Zealand to a total of 251/7 at the end of their 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell top-scored with a composed 63. Michael Bracewell ended up unbeaten on 53 off 40 deliveries. Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav secured a couple of wickets between themselves. Ravindra Jadeja conceded only 30 runs in his 10-over spell, picking up one wicket himself.
