It took a little longer than expected, but Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight veterans Beneil Dariush vs. Renato Moicano finally hooked ‘em up at UFC 317 tonight (Sat., June 28, 2025) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a brief Islam Makhachev intermission.
Emphasis on brief.
Dariush — a perennial 170-pound contender — has never managed to secure a title shot despite an eight-fight win streak from Nov. 2018-Oct. 2022. Charles Oliveira derailed those dreams with a devastating knockout (watch it) and then Arman Tsarukyan poured salt in his wounds.

Prior to the aforementioned Makhachev slaughter, Moicano, was riding a solid four-fight win streak that re-established him as a Top 10-seeded contender. With Father Time staring down both 36-year-old veterans, their showdown this evening would likely send them on very different trajectories.
And when the dust finally settled, it was Dariush who left “Sin City” with his hand raised, an emotion the top-ranked contender hasn’t felt in almost three years.
Probably not.
Final result: Dariush def. Moicano via unanimous decision
