A healthy official crowd of 10,843 was in attendance for the second ODI between South Africa and Australia at the Mangaung Oval. The game was played on a weekend, but the SA fans had to go home disappointed as Australia prevailed by 123 runs to go 2-0 up in the series.
Australia made a massive 392/8 batting first on the back of fine centuries from David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne. In their chase, four Proteas batsmen (Bavuma, De Kock, Klaasen and Miller) all made 40’s, but unlike the Australian duo, they couldn’t quite kick on further.
Australia also didn’t have a recognised fifth bowler- Head and Labuschagne had to fill that role, but they didn’t even need to bowl the entire ten as South Africa were bowled out in just 41.5 overs. Nathan Ellis and spinner Adam Zampa were Australia’s best bowlers on the evening.
