Shopify Rebellion finally found success at the DreamLeague Season 22 North American (NA) closed qualifier as it secured its spot in the main tournament. It had to battle nouns in the final best-of-five series. While Shopify managed to win two back-to-back games, nouns bounced back and won evened the scoreline by winning games three and four of the series.
With everything on the line in the final game of the series, Shopify Rebellion decided to dive nouns’ fountain instead of securing towers and barracks, despite being up in gold. This major throw from Shopify Rebellion was an opportunity for nouns to capitalize on and nouns did just that.
Shopify Rebellion Throws a Major Lead
During Game 5 of the final series of the NA closed qualifier for DreamLeague Season 22, Shopify almost threw the game and the series, which would have proved to be too costly. Shopify’s throw can only be described as a pure 322 moment.
After an impeccable skirmish near Roshan’s bottom lair at the 41st-minute mark and an eventual four-man wipe on nouns, Shopify Rebellion charged towards nouns’ base. Following this, nouns’ Luna and Snapfire bought back to defend the base but fell to Shopify Rebellion’s rampage. Now with a big advantage, Shopify Rebellion could have easily secured two-lane barracks or even potentially ended the game but what it did next was bamboozling. Shopify players dove nouns’ fountain in the base.
Choosing to dive nouns’ fountain instead of securing towers and barracks proved fatal for Shopify Rebellion. The sole surviving Snapfire and Invoker managed to eliminate Shopify Rebellion’s Phoenix, and Kunkka with the help of the fountain. This bought enough time for Nicolas “Gunnar” Lopez’s Magnus to respawn after which nouns managed to kill Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek’s Doom and Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Troll Warlord. This pivotal mistake gave nouns a 10K gold advantage after which it managed to hold the game for an extra 25 minutes.
The game eventually ended at the 67th-minute mark after Shopify Rebellion had a successful team fight in the top jungle and secured a team wipe. nouns’ Yuma “Yuma” Langlet bought back immediately after the skirmish and made a final attempt to win the game by pushing Shopify Rebellion’s base all by himself with a Divine Rapier purchase. His attempts were futile as Shopify brought him down and then went for the GG push.
