Ahead of the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai, a new rumor on the potential replacement of LGD Gaming’s mid laner, Zhou “Emo” Yi has surfaced. The rumor was first brought to light by the X (formerly Twitter) page, CN Dota In A Nutshell, and it relayed a reported statement by LGD Gaming’s inactive player, Lin “planet” Hao. Backing the statement from planet, a series of tweets from other professional players and Emo himself seemingly confirmed this. Emo joined LGD Gaming in 2023 ahead of the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. LGD Gaming performed poorly at the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, finishing 9th-10th, LGD also failed to qualify for the upcoming DreamLeague Season 22.
New Rumor Suggests Emo Will Be Replaced by Setsu
“I don’t think Emo is still in LGD anymore, doesn’t everybody know that? About Pyw, since I’m still here streaming I guess he is still in LGD. And the team we formed to compete in open qualifiers is just for fun.” planet reportedly said as per CN Dota In A Nutshell’s tweet.
Following this, another tweet of a statement, reportedly made by retired Chinese Dota 2 player, He “Inflame” Yongzheng said “Setsu did go to replace Emo and trial for LGD, he finally got to join his dream team LGD, but Ame is not there anymore. And I also heard that Dust went to take his place in TITAN, but I’m not sure if that’s real or not. Tbh (To be honest) I really like Emo, but he just doesn’t suit LGD, it’s just such a shame.”
Inflame’s statement shed light on a new rumor that suggested Gao “Setsu” Zhenxiong, who last played for Vici Gaming, will be the new mid laner for LGD Gaming.
Following this, another tweet of a statement from Emo himself confirmed his departure from the team, he jokingly said “I got voted out of LGD, all six members of our team all voted me out including myself cuz I’m just too bad. xiao8 treats me very well, u guys shouldn’t flame him anymore, he’s a good coach who’s capable of doing a lot of stuff, and he taught me a lot there too.”
At the time of writing, readers should note that there has been no official announcement from LGD Gaming regarding this matter and no roster changes have taken place therefore the rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt.
