Only in Thailand does a boxing ring double as a splash zone and a near-lethal taser.
Combat sports have seen some wild moments over the years, but what happened last weekend at the Weed Boxing Championship (VVED BC) might be the craziest yet.
Just last week (Sun., June 22, 2025) at Kaif Jungle Club & Spa in Phuket, Thailand, former ONE Championship fighter, Ivan Parshikov, stepped into a wired boxing ring … surrounded by a pool.
He won his boxing match at the VVED BC event, but his victory celebration took a jaw-dropping turn. Leaping toward the pool, Parshikov grabbed a light fixture, which electrocuted him immediately (you can hear the audible zap in the clip). His body went limp, and he crumbled to the floor. Miraculously, seconds later, he popped up and dove into the pool like nothing happened.
Pure chaos.

VestnikMMA had more information about the event and shared the following:
“There’s this unusual tournament in Thailand, held on Phuket Island called VVED BC, where it’s almost like regular boxing, but before the fight, you have to take a puff, and the ring is set up by a pool, so you can take a dip after the bout.”
Parshikov took the near-disaster in stride, posting on Instagram:
“The idea of diving from the ring into the pool was not the most successful one . I’ll upload the full chronology of the events a bit later,” he wrote.
It’s safe to say Parshikov’s spark-filled splash just rewired MMA’s weird-o-meter … but there is more to come. Perhaps a wild adventure with Jon Jones, who Parshikov goofed around with on Russia’s The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) knockoff show?
Until next time!
