Team India will commence their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a game against Bangladesh on February 20. India have had a good run in white-ball bilateral series in the last few months. They will also take heart from their T20 World Cup 2024 win not too long ago. It was a complete team effort and India decimated every opposition from the league stages to the finals, winning the title remaining unbeaten.
As the team is gearing up for another ICC silverware hunt, India captain Rohit Sharma has a special message for fans and the team. Just hours before their crucial encounter, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) uploaded a video where Rohit took the center stage. While recalling the good old days, he expressed the team’s desire to “be champions together” with fans again.

“From Barbados to India, we were made to feel like champions, and we felt like champions. Along with us, I am sure you felt like champions too. Months later, we begin our quest to become champions once again. We have trained, tournament mandates done, now it is time to go all out on the field. For the team, for you fans, and for the nation that will be chanting our names, as always. So, let’s do this again, you & us-let’s be champions together,” Rohit said in the video uploaded by BCCI.

It is worth noting that, ahead of the crucial tournament, Jasprit Bumrah was termed unfit and he was dropped from the Champions Trophy squad about two weeks before India’s first game. Subsequently, Varun Chakravarthy was added to the squad and this move has made India a spin-heavy side in the tournament in comparison with other teams. In the absence of Bumrah, the mantle will be on Mohammed Shami to lead the Indian pace attack.
