Barcelona have confirmed that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a new six-year contract with the Spanish club.
The 17-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire in 2026, but his new contract has tied his future with Barca until 2031.
Yamal made his first-team debut at the age of just 15, and he has already made 106 appearances across all competitions for the Catalan giants.
He has drawn comparisons with football superstar Lionel Messi, having also come through the club’s La Masia academy.
Yamal played a pivotal role in helping his team win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup this season. He netted 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 games across all competitions.
The young forward scored the decisive goal against Espanyol earlier this month that sealed the Blaugrana’s 28th league title.
The Spanish titans also reached the semifinals of the Champions League, where they lost to Inter Milan.
Yamal, who is the youngest player to reach 100 appearances for his club, also played a crucial role for Spain in their victory against England in the Euro 2024 final.
The teenager’s contract extension comes just days after Raphinha penned a new deal at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
The former Leeds United man reportedly came close to leaving the club last summer after registering only 13 league goals during his first two seasons.
But manager Hansi Flick convinced the 28-year-old to stay, and he went to play an important role for his team in 2024-25.
Raphinha scored 34 goals and provided 25 assists in 56 appearances, as Barcelona completed a domestic treble La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup.
The forward’s new contract will keep him at the club until 2028.
