Sunil Gavaskar praised Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the match against RCB in the IPL 2025. Gavaskar stated that he was happy to see the pacer operate at over 140 kmph consistently without any rustiness even though he returned to cricket after a long injury ayoff. Gavaskar also predicted that Bumrah will soon hit the 150 kmph-mark.
“The first and foremost thing was seeing him come in steaming and bowling at his usual pace — over 140 km/h. I believe that with a few more games under his belt, he’ll likely hit 150 km/h as he gains more confidence in his back and feels secure enough to bowl at full tilt. In T20s, where you’re not bowling long spells, it’s a lot easier for bowlers to stay sharp and bowl at full speed. That’s exactly what we saw with Bumrah.” said the former Indian batter on JioStar.

He further claimed it’s relatively easier for the Test pacers to give their best in short bursts at a great speed. The former Indian batter also reckoned that RCB could have scored well over 230 if not for Bumrah. Along with Gavaskar, Mark Boucher also spoke about MI’s performance against RCB.
‘The shots he produced were exceptional’ – Mark Boucher praises Hardik Pandya
The JioStar expert and former MI Head Coach Boucher spoke about Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya’s partnership, claiming that the former batted extremely well after what happened with him in the last game against LSG, where he was retired out after struggling on his way to 25 off 23 with just two fours.
“They got off to a bit of a sluggish start. It was amazing to see Suryakumar batting with that kind of strike rate, trying to get it up. But then Tilak and Hardik got together, and Hardik had to go from ball one. Tilak Varma supported him really well, especially after what happened in the previous game. It was a fantastic partnership that brought MI back into the match. At that point, Josh Hazlewood had bowled two great overs,” he said.
The former wicketkeeper-batter felt that the partnership between the two brought the hosts back in the game, especially after how Jash Hazlewood and Co. bowled till that point.
“For Hardik to come in and smash him all over the park was a brilliant effort. Hardik hadn’t faced a ball until then, so he came in completely fresh when the game was on the line. The shots he produced in that over were exceptional and helped MI claw back with Tilak’s help,” Boucher added.
