The Indian team is prepping up for the crucial T20 World Cup 2024 with a warm-up game against Bangladesh at Nassau County Stadium in the United States, on (Saturday) June 1. Skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. India lost Sanju Samson at first and Rohit looked in good touch before getting dismissed within the powerplay. On the back of Rishabh Pant’s half-century and Suryakumar Yadav’s quickfire innings, India posted above par 182 runs on the board.
While chasing, Bangladesh’s top order was dismantled by Arshdeep Singh in consecutive overs. Mohammed Siraj was brought into the attack in the fourth over. Bowling the fifth delivery, Siraj fumbled and the ball slipped out of his hand to reach the square leg. However, the delivery was termed as the dead ball and Siraj plucked Najmul Hossain Shanto out as he cannonballed the southpaw on the subsequent delivery.

Virat Kohli remains unavailable for warm-up fixture
Virat Kohli was absent from the game as he reached the USA a day before the game. The star India batter was spending his time with his family before settling in for an intense cricket month. Rohit quipped that there was no particular reason for batting first against Bangladesh, signalling a thorough mindset of testing the team’s strength. India will commence their campaign with a game against Ireland on June 5.
“We will bat. Not for any particular reason, conditions here look a bit challenging. Virat has just arrived yesterday, he’s going to miss out, the rest are all available and we’ll see how to use them. We arrived quite early, so the body clock has adjusted, we just have to see how well we can adjust to these conditions,” said Rohit at the toss.
