Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals were part of a thrilling clash in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League). Both sides locked horns in the 50th game of the tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, May 2. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total of 201 runs on the board in the first innings.
Aiming to chase down the target, the Royals came within touching distance of a win. However, it was the final heroics of veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar that denied the Royals the win in Hyderabad.
Bowling against Rovman Powell, Kumar had to defend two runs on the final ball of the game. However, a brilliant delivery by the veteran saw Powell being sent back to the pavilion as SRH won the game by one run. After the game, Bhuvneshwar Kumar came forward to talk about his thought process in the final over.
“Ahh… That is my nature. But again, the process is very important. Even in the last over, I wasn’t thinking too much. There was no discussion regarding the final over. We were just focusing on the process. I was not thinking about the result. It was about focusing on the particular delivery. Two good balls and anything could have happened in the last over,” Kumar was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
I was thoughtless: Kumar
The 34-year-old opined that he had no thoughts. He revealed that he was not thinking about where the fielder was or where the batter was going to hit. He instead focused everything on executing the delivery, which did work out in his favour as Powell missed the full toss.
“I was thoughtless. I know; it was a full toss in the last ball. But he (Powell) missed it, and then you know what happened. I was not at all thinking about where the fielder was or where the batter was going to hit me. My complete focus was on executing the delivery,” said Bhuvneshwar.
