During a recent stream, Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski was surprised to see the addition of Daniel “Ghost” Chan and coach Roman “rmN-” Paley in Nigma Galaxy. On 5th January, Nigma Galaxy officially announced the final iteration of its 2024 Dota 2 roster by introducing its new offlaner and position four support. Interestingly, Gorgc said that these two new additions were very different from what he saw and heard. He also expressed his doubts about Ghost’s role transition to offlaner from carry to fit into the Nigma Galaxy roster.
“I’ve Seen and Heard Something Different,” Says Gorgc About Nigma Galaxy’s 2024 Lineup
On 5th January, Nigma Galaxy finally announced its last two players to complete the roster. The team brought in Ghost and rmN- as its final players for the 2024 roster. Seeing the announcement post from Nigma Galaxy, Gorgc was surprised. He said, “I saw and heard something different before these two players and they have been trying some new players out, I guess?”
He hinted that the team could have been actively hosting tryouts for different players to fill in those two empty roles.
Gorgc then dug into some of Ghost’s Dota 2 history and voiced out his concerns about Ghost’s role transition to offlaner from carry. “The role transition? Very risky stuff, that’s all I’ve got to say,” remarked Gorgc.
Ghost has been playing as a carry player throughout his Dota 2 career and represented teams like Royal Never Give Up (RNG) and Xtreme Gaming in China. His move to Nigma Galaxy also marks his first time competing in the European region.
However, Gorgc was open-minded about the new Nigma Galaxy roster and expressed that he had hopes for the team. He added, “We’ll see guys, I have hopes for them. I don’t know whether I consider them stronger than Falcons or Quest in MENA [Middle East & North Africa] qualifiers, guys.”
Gorgc also shared his predictions for the BetBoom Dacha 2024 MENA qualifiers. “I think, personally, I’ll rank them: Falcons, Quest, and Nigma third, and only one can make it so, you never know. Miracle- actually looks a little bit in shape now so I don’t know,” he said.
The BetBoom Dacha 2024 MENA closed qualifiers are scheduled to kick off on 11th January. Notably, no teams participated in the open qualifiers #1 and #2 and as a result, only the four teams — Team Falcons, PSG Quest, Nigma Galaxy, and Winter Bear — that received direct invites to the MENA closed qualifiers will be competing for the sole spot at the main tournament.
