Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has been named England’s new vice-captain before the Euro 2024, according to ESPN.
The experienced right-back was informed of the decision by manager Gareth Southgate earlier this month.
The 34-year-old takes over the role from Jordan Henderson, who hasn’t been included in the Euro 2024 squad.
Walker made his England debut in November 2011 and has gone on to make 83 appearances for the national side, which makes him the second-most capped player in the squad.
Only captain Harry Kane has made more appearances for the Three Lions with 91 caps.
England are regarded as one of the top favourites to win the Euro 2024.
They made it to the final in the previous edition of the competition in 2021, but lost to eventual champions Italy at the Wembley Stadium.
Southgate has failed to win major silverware for the Three Lions since coming into the job in 2016.
The 53-year-old could lose his job if he fails to lead his side to victory in Euro 2024.
England boast some of the best talents in their squad, including Jude Bellingham, Kobbie Mainoo, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Kane.
