England and the West Indies are all set to continue their ongoing Test series. Both sides will face off in the second Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Thursday, July 18. The visitors faced a hefty loss in the first Test of the series, and as the second game approached, the West Indies announced their playing XI a day prior to the match.
Much to the fans’ surprise, the West Indies announced an unchanged playing XI for their second Test against England. Kraigg Brathwaite will once again be leading the side. Furthermore, Shamar Joseph, who injured himself during the first Test is available.
We’ve just got to put runs on the board – Brathwaite
After a dismal performance in the Lord’s Test where the West Indies were bowled out for 121 and 136, Brathwaite emphasised that it’s no rocket science as to what the team needs to do which is to bat as well as they can. Although there were positives with the bat according the skipper it was not enough to win a Test match by any stretch.
“It’s pretty simple what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to bat a lot better. Obviously we’ve got to find a way, which we’ve had some discussions around different things we can do better as a team. There are still a bit of positives with the bat. With the ball, as I said before, [England scored] 50-60 runs too many but it was a positive to get ten wickets. But with the bat, we’ve just got to put runs on the board. It’s simple,” said Brathwaite.
