During a series between Team Spirit and LGD Gaming at the recently concluded BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai, two-time TI (The International) champion Sébastien “Ceb” Debs joined the commentary panel along with Shannon “SUNSfan” Scotten and Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann. SUNSfan posed an interesting question as he asked him about his choice for the strongest laner in Dota 2. Ceb immediately named Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan of Nigma Galaxy and acknowledged his impressive mechanics.
SumaiL Gets Recognized As One of the Strongest Laners
On 12th February, during a series between Team Spirit and LGD Gaming SUNSfan asked Ceb, “Who do you consider to be the strongest laner in Dota? Right now. Doesn’t have to be at this tournament.”
Ceb acknowledged this question and remarked that it was a good one. He then added, “I mean honestly, like uh, I have to give Sumail some prop. I think he hasn’t played versus the best in a while but, uh, I think he’s still very impressive with his mechanics and he doesn’t get the attention because obviously, his team is not doing as well as other teams right now.”
Ceb further talked about being an offlaner in Dota 2 and gave some insight into that role. He added, “I mean as an offlaner like as a former offlaner, I have a particular site on offlaners right? I recognize when they lane really well and I think Collapse is an absolute legend in every phase of the game and during the laning phase also. I think he has very few clicks that aren’t perfect in his laning face honestly. So in this game, I would look at Collapse.”
Sumail rejoined Nigma Galaxy as its mid-laner for the 2024 competitive roster after spending some time in Team Aster as a loan from Nigma Galaxy. Although he is regarded as the “King of Midlane,” just like how Ceb describes it, Sumail hasn’t gotten much attention due to the poor performance from Nigma Galaxy and its failure to qualify for any major tournament so far. Notably, Nigma Galaxy was invited to play at the Games of the Future 2024 but withdrew from the tournament.
On the other hand, Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov of Team Spirit joined the two-time TI winners club after winning The International 2023 and is regarded as one of the best offlaners in the current Dota 2 scenario.
