Nix, who was attending his first CS tournament after being only familiar with Dota 2 events, expressed his positive experience, particularly highlighting the individual efforts of players in creating unique villas, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the event.
Nix Compares Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2
Russian YouTube Channel Aunkere made its way to the BetBoom Dacha CS 2 tournament on the third day and its creators went on to meet and interview Cloud9 and Nix.
In an interview with Nix, the Dota 2 streamer compared CS 2 and Dota 2. The transcript of the interview has been sourced from Dota2.net.
He drew an analogy between CS 2 and Dota 2, comparing them to the dynamics of classical sports like football and basketball.
He said, “Compared to classical sports, there is football and basketball. It seems to me that because CS is more dynamic, it looks like basketball. That is, something is constantly happening, round by round, clutch by clutch. And Dota is like football. They [players] can play the pass, nothing happens for 60 minutes, and then some goal or moment will happen.“
Nix went on to explain his perspective on the entertainment factor, stating, “In terms of entertainment, it seems to me that CS is better. More swings, bursts.”
The main reason for his preference for CS2 over Dota 2 was the fast-paced gameplay of CS2 where something is constantly happening in the game.
Lastly, he further elaborated on the differences in pacing between the two games. He pointed out the apparent fast-paced nature of Counter-Strike, and the slow, spaced out gameplay in Valve’s multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).
“In CS there is such a thing as a finished round, after which you have time to cool down, and think about something,” Nix said. On the contrary, Dota 2 players are very emotional in the game. He noted “In Dota, a lot of players want to shout and release their emotions, but they understand that they need to be discussed instantly.”
