The 3-0 loss to New Zealand has changed several things for the Indian team. Their World Test Championship final berth which looked certain is in jeopardy. Their batters have struggled against spin and looked unimpressive against pace. Moreover, Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir are at the receiving end of heat.
As India will set foot in Australia, they will carry a burden and expectations to win four out of five Tests to see themselves in WTC final. Result differing from the prescribed stats, they will have to rely on other teams to fgo through. With almost three weeks before the Australia tour, Rohit has asserted that playing in Australia will be different from other challenges. He also added that players do know their game and have their own mindset for every game.

“We do talk a lot about the game but sitting with every individual and telling them what needs to be done or how they need to get their mindset right is going to be challenging. They come with a certain mindset, certain thinking about their own games. It has given them success in the past. But we all understand Australia is going to be a different ball game,” said Rohit as quoted by TOI.

Moreover, Indian squad for Australia boasts first timers like Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The India captain iterated that the atmosphere within the dressing room will ease out the butterfly’s youngster carry while playing for the first time down under.

“For the young players who haven’t been there before, it’ll be important to create an environment where they are comfortable and aren’t intimidated by where they’re playing and who they’re playing against. It’s important that from our side, we keep telling them that it’s another place to play cricket,” Rohit added.
