Arsenal have been advised to strengthen their attacking options by signing Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney.
The Bees star is presently serving an eight-month ban for violating the Premier League’s betting regulations and will not return to play until the new year. Despite the presence of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, and summer transfer Kai Havertz in Mikel Arteta’s side, former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd believes the ‘prolific’ Toney can thrive at one of the division’s best teams and would ‘love Arsenal to recruit him’.
“He scores goals, he is prolific, he is strong, he leads the line really well,” the former Arsenal academy product stated on Sky Sports Saturday Social. If he plays for any of the top clubs, he will score at least 20 Premier League goals every season. Excellent at penalties. I’d love for Arsenal to sign him.”
Mikel Arteta is unlikely to listen to pundits when it comes to making transfer decisions, but Bothroyd has a point. Toney’s quickness, movement, and, most crucially, finishing would allow him to slot into the Gunners’ lineup and give them with something unique at the top of the pitch.
