After concluding her trilogy against Katie Taylor which saw her drop all three fights to the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring female light welterweight title holder, Amanda Serrano is returning to her home turf in hopes of getting back on track.
Per a report from ESPN, Serrano (47-4-1) has booked her next fight in the form of a rematch against Erika Cruz, which is set to go down on Jan,. 3, 2026 inside Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Serrano initially defeated Cruz via unanimous decision in 2023, retaining her WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring female featherweight titles, winning the WBA featherweight title, in the process.
Now, Cruz — who is 3-0-1 since the loss to Serrano and is the current WBA female super bantamweight champion — is out for revenge, as the 25-year-old Mexican-born pugilist looks to get another piece of gold hardware to add to her mantle.
As for Serrano, she was last seen losing to Taylor on July 11, 2025 in New York City via majority decision in what was another back-and-forth affair. Prior to that, “Real Deal” came up short to “The Bray Bomber” via unanimous decision. In their first fight back in 2022, Taylor once again got the best of Serrano by defeating her via split-decision in what was perhaps the best female boxing fight of all time (video replay here).
