Former UFC heavyweight contender, Mark Hunt, filed suit against UFC and Dana White in the wake of his Brock Lesnar loss at UFC 200 back in summer 2016. Hunt’s defeat was eventually changed to a “No Contest” after Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene (and creamy feet).
The majority of that lawsuit was dismissed in 2019.
eventually tossed in late 2023; however, Hunt was permitted to moved forward with discovery on allegations of fraud and battery after “The Super Samoan” claimed to have suffered “severe physical injury” as well as “economic and non-economic damages.”
Unfortunately, Hunt was forced to represent himself after his attorneys jumped ship.
“Hunt does not point to any evidence in the record of any physical, emotional, economic, or reputational damage or harm attributable to Defendants-Appellees’ conduct,” a three-judge panel wrote in this week’s verdict (via Courthouse News Service). “Indeed, while maintaining that such evidence does in fact exist, Hunt acknowledged both in his reply brief and at argument that evidence of damages has not yet been adequately presented.”
To make matters worse, Hunt is still on the hook for $375,000 in court costs.
uninspired loss to Justin Willis at UFC Fight Night 142 back in late 2018, his third straight defeat in a dreadful 1-4 slump dating back to his Brock Lesnar contest at UFC 200. His last combat sports appearance came under boxing rules against Sonny Bill Williams in late 2022.
