Newcastle United are currently flying high in the Premier League under manager Eddie Howe.
The Magpies cruised past Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 in Wednesday’s Premier League game live on TV, sealing their ninth victory in all competitions.
Alexander Isak was the star performer for Newcastle once again, with the Sweden international scoring in either half before Anthony Gordon’s late third to wrap up the win.
Howe will look to continue their momentum for the remainder of the season by adding a few fresh faces to the squad.
However, they will need to sell before buying new players to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Newcastle are open to offers for Miguel Almiron and he is reportedly edging closer to an exit.
This is according to The Athletic who report Atlanta United are working to reach an agreement for the 30-year-old, who played for the American side between 2017 and 2019.
He made 70 appearances for Atlanta over two seasons and scored 22 goals. He was part of their team that lifted the MLS Cup in 2018.
The MLS outfit have submitted a bid worth around £11 million and the Premier League outfit are considering their offer.
It is said that talks are at an advanced stage between the two clubs and a deal is expected to be concluded in the coming days.
Almiron joined Newcastle in January 2019 for £20 million. However, he failed to make a huge impact for the Magpies, scoring just 30 goals in 221 appearances.
The winger will be out of contract in the summer of 2026 but the English club are looking to cash in on him in this transfer window.
Almiron’s best campaign at St James’ Park came in 2022-23 when he scored 11 times in 34 Premier League matches.
But the forward has been massively struggling for minutes this season under Howe, making only a single start in the English top-flight.
He is clearly not part of Howe’s future plans and it is good for the player as well as the club if he moves on.
