On Day 2 of the second aka the pink-ball Test between India and Australia, India managed to pick early wickets in the form of Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith. Both the batters departed scoring 39 and two runs, respectively. Following that, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne steadied the innings by putting up a 65-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Labuschagne departed scoring 64 runs off 126 balls. After his wicket, Head kept the scoreboard ticking and his partnership with Mitchell Marsh was crucial as well. The duo stitched a 40-run stand for the fifth wicket before Marsh walked off scoring 9 runs off 26 balls. Then came another 74-run stand with Alex Carey as the latter contributed 15 off 32. Meanwhile, Head was dealing with boundaries as he kept the ball going past the boundary rope for every now and then.
The southpaw was eventually cleaned up by Mohammed Siraj, who had previously dropped his catch. But Travis Head had already scored 140 off 141 balls, with the help of 17 boundaries and four maximums. The Indian bowlers managed to send the tailenders back in quick succession and Australia posted a total of 337 and generated a lead of 157 runs.
India lost quick wickets in the second innings
For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj dazzled with four wickets each, whereas Nitish Reddy and Ravichandran Ashwin picked one wicket each. Trailing by 157 runs, India lost KL Rahul and Virat Kohli quickly as they could only contribute seven and 11 respectively. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill scored a quick 24 off 31 and 28 off 30 respectively.

As an Indian, I am proud of the way Mohammed Siraj celebrated Travis Head’s wicket.
This is Test cricket and we want to see Indians fired up on the field.
Travis Head batted well but that doesn’t mean Siraj can’t celebrate. #INDvsAUS pic.twitter.com/MuEceafmsM

#INDvsAUS #BGT2024 if big guns arent firing, drop them on form and bring youth in. For next match, you cannot afford both Hitman and VK in same team. Gill up, Rahul to drop down. Reddy higher up, bring in Jurel. Rana has got to go.

Rohit n Gill are on fire in both innings, as a result, nobody can stop Australia from winning this test.#AUSvsIND #BGT2024

I know Head is giving head ache to us but one main cause of it is the inability of r batters to score sufficient runs to make him useless fr his side .. so taking dig at him is indeed of no use .. #INDvsAUS #INDvAUS #BGT2024
