Former India captain, MS Dhoni, and former Australia opener, Adam Gilchrist are one of the most renowned names in the pantheon of wicket-keeper batters. The former India wicketkeeper-captain earlier in his career termed Gilchrist as his favourite wicket-keeper. But the Australian veteran has picked Dhoni over himself as the best wicket-keeper.
In a video interaction, Gilchrist was asked to pick the best wicket-keepers in cricket history between two options. Gilchrist pipped Mark Boucher to pick Andy Flower and stayed with Flower over Jack Russell. But when asked to choose between him and Dhoni, the 52-year-old opted for the former India skipper.

Dhoni’s comeback hinges on new IPL retention policy
Speaking of Dhoni, India’s World Cup-winning captain decided to hand his boots on 15th August 2020. He is seen representing Chennai Super Kings as a player after he handed over the captaincy reigns to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season. Though there is no official word from the legend, his participation in IPL 2025 was highly doubted, and the 43-year-old quipped that the decision relies on a new IPL retention policy.

“I’ve no idea about it. We’ve not requested for it. They (the BCCI) have themselves told us that the ‘uncapped player rule’ may be kept, that’s all. They (the BCCI) haven’t announced anything as yet. The rules and regulations will be announced by the BCCI,” CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanath told TOI.
Speaking of CSK, they ended their IPL 2024 with a disappointing loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru. The team was on the cusp of entering the playoffs featuring in their final league game. But an all-round performance from RCB kept them out of the race.
