The legendary MS Dhoni and former India speedster Joginder Sharma recently caught up after a long gap of 12 years. Joginder, who serves as the DSP of police in Haryana, shared pictures of the meeting on social media and took the fans on a trip down memory lane.
In the pictures, Joginder was seen wearing the police uniform, while the wicketkeeper-batter opted to sport a casual T-shirt and black pants with white sneakers.
“It was nice to meet @mahi7781 after a very long time. The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today,” Joginder wrote in the caption of his post on Instagram.
Joginder made a name for himself during the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa. Notably, the right-arm pacer bowled the last overs in the semi-finals against Australia and the finals versus Pakistan. Dhoni entrusted him to bowl the high-pressure overs and the pacer came up trumps every time.

The 2007 T20 World Cup was the first time Dhoni captained India. He had a team bereft of senior players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid. However, his inspirational leadership and match-winning contributions from different players helped India win a World Cup for the first time since the 1983 triumph under Kapil Dev.
For the unversed, Joginder also played under Dhoni’s leadership at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Apart from playing four T20Is and as many ODIs for the Men in Blue, he represented CSK in 16 matches. Meanwhile, in domestic cricket, the 40-year-old played 77 first-class matches and 80 List-A games for Haryana and bagged 297 and 115 wickets, respectively.

Joginder was also a handy batter, having scored 2,804 runs in first-class cricket, registering five centuries. On February 3, 2023, the Rohtak-born announced his retirement from all formats of international and domestic cricket.
