India are gearing up to tour Sri Lanka for a white-ball series in July-August 2024. The tour will feature three T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), as the tour commences on July 26.
This series marks a significant milestone for both teams as they start a new era under fresh leadership. India, fresh from their T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, will be led by their new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, in his inaugural assignment. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has appointed Sanath Jayasuriya as their interim head coach.
The series kicks off with back-to-back T20Is on July 26 and 27 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The action then shifts to the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo for the 50-over leg, commencing on August 01, with a two-day gap between each match.

For the Men in Blue, this tour represents their second T20I series following their World Cup victory, with the second-string squad playing in Zimbabwe currently. The team is expected to put in a blend of experienced players and emerging talent.
With stalwarts like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja having retired from the format, all eyes will be on Hardik Pandya, who is likely to lead the T20I squad. The ODI team might see KL Rahul wearing the captain’s hat, with some senior players potentially rested to manage the workload.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back after their early exit from the T20 World Cup. The home team will be eager to leverage their familiarity with local conditions and the recent experience gained by their players in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024.
In India’s previous tour to Sri Lanka in July 2021, the visitors clinched the ODI series 2-1 but narrowly lost the T20Is by the same margin. The squad for both teams is yet to be announced.
