BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai was the first big Dota 2 tournament of 2024. Team Falcons, a newly formed team, won this sought-after tournament and beat Team Liquid in a best-of-five series to claim the title. Team Falcons displayed exceptional performance despite being a relatively new team in the tier 1 professional scene. It clean swept the veteran squad of Team Liquid with ease.
The Dota 2 community was surprised and social media was flooded with surprise reactions, memes, and much more. This win prompted some of the biggest names in Dota 2 to talk about the grand finale of BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai.
Dota 2 Community Awestruck by Team Falcons’ Performance
On 16th February, Team Falcons won its first major tournament — the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai — since its inception. The team represents the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, and notably, the team has remained undefeated in the numerous regional qualifiers held for different tournaments this year so far.
Displaying its potential on the grand stage, Team Falcons proved its worth to the community and shocked many. The roster of the team is as follows:
Team Falcons was clearly elated by this sweet victory over Liquid. Team Falcons’ captain, Sneyking took to X (formerly Twitter) and tweeted, “Haven’t won a @DOTA2 major before, does this count for my bucket list?”
Team Falcons carry skiter also took to X and singled out his midlaner Malr1ne for his extraordinary performance throughout the tournament. skiter said, “Insanely proud of my team all the hard has paid off (sooner than expected). Anyways big respect to @Stas70208111 (Malr1ne). This is only his 2nd major tournament and already playing like a seasoned veteran.”
On the other hand, Team Liquid’s disappointment was evident. Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi took to X to congratulate Team Falcons for the win and expressed regret for disappointing Liquid fans at the grand finals of the tournament. Teammate Michael “miCKe” Vu tweeted, “Back to b-tier carry.” Commenting on this, Entity’s Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau consoled miCKe and replied, “U are too hard on yourself.”
Team Liquid’s coach William “Blitz” Lee took to X and tweeted, “Disappointed but early on in the year. Will avoid socials for a while but congrats to Cr1t and Falcons on a well deserved win.”
Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg, winner of The International 2013, was clearly unbothered by this development and simply tweeted, “Tournament is over, Give us 7.35C NOW.”
A Reddit user made a meme out of the Team Liquid logo as a choking person instead of the horse that is typically seen on the logo.
Dota 2 streamer and personality, Janne “Gorgc” Stefanovski was surprised by Team Falcons’ performance at the tournament. He said, “I will say this, I did not expect this team to be this good when they formed. I was like, Kinda looks kinda weird.”
There are many more big tournaments coming up and it would be interesting to see how Team Falcons fares in them.
