Shaheen Shah Afridi to captain Pakistan in their tour of New Zealand
Shaheen Shah Afridi’s reign as Pakistan captain will begin on this tour. The left-arm pacer was rested for the third Test in Australia last week, which brought about some criticism. But, with a World Cup on the horizon, Pakistan have viewed this series as an important step in their preparations of which Shaheen is a crucial piece in the puzzle.
Mohammad Rizwan is the vice-captain. “It is an honour to be named as the vice-captain of Pakistan Men’s T20I side,” Rizwan said. “I am thankful to the PCB for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am looking forward to working closely with the captain, coaching staff, and my team-mates to contribute to the team’s success.”
In terms of the squad, Shadab Khan is out with injury. Haris Rauf, who did not play in the Australia Test series, will return to Pakistan duty in this series.
