Team Falcons, a formidable contender to watch in the upcoming Dota 2 competitive season, has made an impressive beginning in the Pinnacle: 25 Year Anniversary Show with back to back victories. The organizer of the tournament interviewed Falcons’ position four player Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen where he spoke about playing with his new teammate Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf. As Cr1t- mentioned, there is a perception of ATF in the community, which he found to be incorrect since the offlaner is easygoing and fun. Furthermore, he praised ATF for his maturity despite being very young. Cr1t- also discussed Falcons’ progress as a team.
Cr1t- praises ATF’s maturity and says he is easygoing and fun
In an interview about how the Falcons roster came together, Cr1t- revealed that ATF was the team’s first choice. On top of that, when Cr1t- got to play with him, he realized that he was quite different from what the community thought he was.
“I was very surprised, especially with Ammar, the way he is as a person is much different than what the community sees, the picture he has towards the public. I was very surprised with how funny he is. He is easygoing. He is only 18 and he is quite mature for his age. I think that surprised me a lot.”
Additionally, Cr1t- mentioned he had been in touch with former Tundra Esports players Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu and Oliver “skiter” Lepko for some time now. Due to health issues, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov had withdrawn from the active team at Tundra before The International 12 (TI12), which left a position four position open. According to Cr1t-, discussions ensued with Sneyking and skiter, following which he knew for certain that he would join them after TI12.
Only a couple of weeks have passed since Falcons’ roster was put together. Despite winning the MENA qualifier for ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 soon after, Cr1t- stated that they are still bonding and would need more time to get into their rhythm.
“I’d say we are very much still in the process. We have only played together for about a week, even less. We had to scramble together to bootcamp for the qualifier for Kuala Lumpur because it’s only a few weeks after TI and we are fixing our roster and everything with the org. We really did not have much time before going into that. We had a few days of scrims and then we went straight into the qualifiers so I would say we are very much still finding our footing.”
Falcons’ performance in the Pinnacle: 25 Year Anniversary Show has been great thus far, despite the fact that the competition does not include many tier one teams. As a result, the team will look to win the event. Falcons plays against Atlas Burden next in the group stage on 25th Nov 2023.
