England and the Netherlands locked horns at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on November 8, Wednesday. The defending champions finally earned some success after five consecutive defeats as they registered a convincing 160-run win over the Dutch team. Notably, both sides have already been knocked out of the tournament, courtesy of their lackluster performance in the ongoing tournament.
During the clash, the Netherlands all-rounder Logan Van Beek obtained his first official ‘nutmeg.’ He got the wicket of Root in the 21st over when the batter risked playing the ramp shot. Notably, it went wrong as the bowler’s delivery rattled Root’s stumps after passing between his legs.
After the match, Van Beek opened up about his first nutmeg, stating it was funny. “I think that is my first official nutmeg. I’m not a footballer. I’ve tried a few times in warm-ups to try and get through the guy’s legs but first time I’ve done it with a ball. Yeah, there wasn’t really much going through my mind but when I saw the replay, it was quite funny,” the all-rounder said in a video shared by ICC.
The 33-year-old further spoke about how he welcomed his family to India in ‘teeka’ style. “For a few days, I was trying to work out what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to do a ‘Teeka’ we have had so many teeka welcomes as we are going through the hotels and I have three lovely dancers that came in and we got the welcome to India which was a famous movie,” he added.
