Bangladesh’s Litton Das has left India during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 and returned back home to Dhaka owing to personal reasons. The actual reason for his return to his homeland is yet unknown. However, reports have confirmed that he is most likely set to be available for their next fixture against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to be held on November 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
As per reports, Litton and his wife are expecting their first child, which may have forced him to leave midway. Speaking of his form, the ace batter has had a decent run at the tournament so far, as he has amassed 235 runs, including a couple of half-centuries. However, it is understood that the cricketer will return to the host nation on November 03, which is three days ahead of the clash against in New Delhi.
“Due to his family emergency, Litton took a leave and will join the team ahead of the teams’ training session scheduled on November 3 in Delhi,” Bangladesh Cricket Board’s media and communications manager, Rabeed Imam, was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.
Bangladesh tarnish their semi-final hopes
There have been many impressive individual performances from the Shakib Al Hasan-led side. Some notable names include Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rahman. But hasn’t helped the side to seal a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament, as they have already been eliminated on the back of six consecutive losses in seven games they have played so far.
The side is currently placed seventh on the points table and has no hopes remaining for fancying a spot in the semi-finals. And thus, their next two games remain dead rubber. However, the opposition, namely Sri Lanka and Australia, hold prominence, as a win could see them through.
