Vikram Singh Barn, affectionately known as Vikstar123 or simply Vik, has long been a prominent figure in the realm of YouTube gaming celebrities. Co-founding The Sidemen, one of the biggest YouTube groups out there, Vikram “Vik” Barn has etched his own distinctive mark within the gaming community. But what might come as a surprise to many of his followers is his fervent passion for Dota 2.
Vik’s Gaming Odyssey
Vik embarked on his YouTube journey in 2010, initially lured into the gaming world by interactions with friends. As he delved deeper into the domain of online gaming, he began following fellow YouTubers and eventually ventured into content creation himself, launching his very own YouTube channel. Over the years, he has played and streamed an array of games including Minecraft, PUBG, Fortnite, and many more.
In January 2021, Vik stirred ripples within the gaming community when he made the bold decision to step away from Call of Duty: Warzone. Citing concerns over rampant cheating, he unreservedly declared that hackers posed an existential threat to the game. His stance resonated with several high-profile streamers, eventually compelling Activision to institute vital updates to the game’s anti-cheat measures.
On 27 September 2023, Vik uploaded a video on YouTube announcing his marriage to his long-time girlfriend Ellie Harlow, where he went on to explain his journey in the world of gaming that took an unexpected turn as he recently revealed his quest to find the next big competitive game.
In his own words, Vik shared, “I haven’t abandoned gaming, but I just need a game that I absolutely love to kind of go all in, like I did with PUBG, like I did with Fortnite, like I did with Warzone. At the moment, I play Dota 2 on a regular basis, but it just doesn’t make the most entertaining live content, so I kind of have that on my own time. But I’m telling you, when a big live-streamed game that’s competitive, drops, I’m gonna be straight in on it. But yeah, to go back to the point.”
Vik’s Undying Love for Dota 2
Vik’s affection for Dota 2 is no secret. He took to Twitter on September 11, 2018, to express his sentiments, stating, “Dota 2 is literally the only game I play without recording for YouTube. How many of you play it too?”
As of September 27, 2023, Vikstar currently boasts a commendable Ancient I rank, signifying an MMR range between 3850 and 4000. His favored role in the game is that of a support player, a position that aligns seamlessly with his affinity for strategic gameplay.
In the realm of heroes, Vik has developed a particular fondness for a select few, including Ogre Magi, Jakiro, Lich, and Wraith King. However, Ogre Magi stands out as his favorite, as evidenced by his recent game history, where he frequently leans towards the twin-headed Jakiro if his beloved two-headed ogre finds himself banned from the game.
