It’s not even midway of the season and Erik ten Hag reportedly feels that he needs to sign a new goalkeeper.
According to Spanish media outlet, Fichajes, the Red Devils are already unimpressed with summer signing Andre Onana who has made a low-key start to his career at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman took a bold decision in letting David de Gea leave the club and signed Onana from Inter Milan. The Cameroon international has been far from convincing so far and his howler in the 4-3 defeat against Bayern Munich has been criticised in the media.
As a result, the Dutchman is already thinking of replacing the 27-year-old goalkeeper, and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak has been considered as a potential option.
After spending 10 years with the Rojiblancos, Oblak feels the time is ripe for him to make a move elsewhere. He is open to leaving the La Liga club and has given his go-ahead for the British club to start progressing talks about his signing.
While Oblak’s current market value stands at £30m, Atletico would be reluctant to sell him for anything less than £43m.

Oblak is a vastly experienced goalkeeper and has been a reliable option for Diego Simeone over the years. At 30, he can still play at a high level for United, as goalkeepers usually enjoy a long career.
But why would United look to replace Onana without giving him a complete season to prove his worth?
Onana is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment, and his performances over the last few years have been outstanding.
He is perfect for Ten Hag’s plans and just needs to settle down at his new club. Once he starts developing a good understanding with his defenders, he will get even better.
The club should look at other areas to bolster in January or next summer and should stop experimenting with the goalkeeping department. It simply doesn’t make any sense.
