Bangladesh captain Litton Das recalled Ish Sodhi after the latter was run out at the non-strikers’ end in the second ODI against New Zealand at Mirpur.
In the 46th over, seamer Hasan Mahmud took the bails off before jumping into his delivery stride, catching Sodhi out of his crease in the process. Sodhi backed up a little too far, with his back leg short of the crease when the bails were removed.
On review, Sodhi was given out by the third umpire.
However, in a twist, Das was then seen talking to the umpires. He and Hasan agreed to call Sodhi back, with Hasan and Sodhi then embracing one another with a hug.
At that point, Sodhi was 17 not out off 26 balls with New Zealand at 224/8. He went on to make 35 off 39 balls and the Black Caps finished with 254 on a slow pitch.
